What it is
BreadAdvisor is a bread-baking advisor. Connected to ChatGPT, it works with your real baking data — your saved recipes, your bake history, your version-by-version results — instead of answering from general knowledge about bread.
Everything the connector does runs through the same BreadAdvisor service as the mobile app. Plans you make in a conversation appear in the app's library; bakes you log in the app inform what ChatGPT sees. One account, one library, wherever you work. BreadAdvisor is live on the App Store, with Android in closed testing — the connector works the same regardless, and you don't need the app at all to use it.
ChatGPT opens the connector's forms — a photo picker for a dough check or a finished-bake log, a browsable list of Starter Recipes — right in the conversation when a tool calls for one.
What you can do
Plan a bake. Paste a recipe, pick from 11 built-in Starter Recipes, scan a recipe from photos, revise something in your library — or describe what you want and have one drafted for you to review. Every plan computes baker's math in code, not by estimation: hydration, salt, yeast, and fat percentages calculated from your actual ingredient weights, plus what to expect, risk flags, and suggested tweaks. Plans save to your library automatically.
Check your dough. Mid-ferment, ask about your dough. A form opens for a photo — snap one or choose one — and the verdict comes back in the conversation: ready, wait, or borderline, with the visual evidence spelled out and recheck timing scaled to your recipe's schedule.
Log a bake. Photograph the finished loaf (crumb shot if you've cut it), and get a scored diagnosis — including a predicted-versus-actual comparison against what your plan expected for crumb, crust, and rise, with the option to share the result as a public link.
Work your library. List your recipes with their computed numbers and walk version history.
Example prompts
Say what you want in plain language — BreadAdvisor engages when the request is about your own bread, recipes, or bakes:
- “Find me a sourdough recipe and plan it.”
- “Plan the Classic White Sandwich Bread starter recipe.”
- “What's in my recipe library?”
- “My dough is 4 hours into bulk — is it ready?”
- “I just pulled the loaf out, log it.”
How to connect
You'll need a ChatGPT account and about a minute:
1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors, turn on developer mode if it isn't already, then choose Add custom connector.
2. Paste in the URL https://api.breadadvisor.app/mcp.
3. ChatGPT opens BreadAdvisor's sign-in page. Enter your email — we send an 8-character sign-in code to your inbox. No password to create, no card required.
4. Enter the code and approve the connection. If you've used the BreadAdvisor app with the same email, your library is already there. If you're new, a free account is created on the spot.
Custom connectors with full tool access are currently gated by ChatGPT to certain plans, so what you see may vary by account.
Then just ask — see example prompts above.
To disconnect at any time, remove BreadAdvisor from ChatGPT's Connectors settings. Access tokens expire on their own.
How photos work
Photos never travel through the conversation. BreadAdvisor hands you a private, single-use link that opens a photo form on our site — take a photo or choose one, and it uploads directly. Photos are held for minutes at most and deleted as soon as they're analyzed, and a shot taken in the form goes straight to the analysis without being saved to your phone — use your camera app first if you want to keep it.
What's free
BreadAdvisor is free to use in ChatGPT. There's also a companion iPhone app that shares the same account and library (Android is in closed testing) — anything you do in one shows up in the other.
Privacy
The short version: we receive only what the tools need — the details of each request and the photos you submit through our own forms. We never see your ChatGPT conversation, and ChatGPT only sees what a tool returns. The full details live in the connector section of our privacy policy.
Questions or trouble
Write to hello@breadadvisor.app. If a sign-in code doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first — codes expire after 15 minutes, and you can always request a fresh one by starting the connection again.
